# Magma V2.23-12 Patch Notes

## Arithmetic Geometry

- A bug in the `Chabauty` function has been fixed.  Fix provided by M. Stoll.

## Commutative Algebra

- A crash in the F4 algorithm coming out of [`ProbableRadicalDecomposition`](../CommutativeAlgebra/PolynomialRingIdealOperations/radical-decomposition.md#function-probableradicaldecomposition-rngmpol) has been fixed.  Reported by M. Zieve.
- A rare incorrect result in the F4 algorithm in medium characteristic finite fields has been fixed.  Reported by L. Borisov.
- A hang in the Groebner Walk algorithm with ideals with dense polynomials has been fixed.  Reported by M. Stoll.

## Function Fields

- An error in the computation of the exact constant field has been fixed for fields which are an extension of the constant field but whose defining polynomials are scalar multiples of a polynomial over the constant field by a rational function.  Reported by M. Zieve.

## Polynomial Rings

- A hang when factoring polynomials defined a chain of polynomial quotient rings in small characteristic has been fixed.
- Some leaks in polynomial operations have been fixed.
- A hang in the computation of complex roots of polynomials has been fixed.  Reported by D. Barth.
