Commutative Algebra

  • Major improvements have been made to the Faugere F4 algorithm for computing Gröbner bases.

  • HFE systems (for which the secret degree parameter is up to 128) can now be solved in a much quicker time, by specifying the HFE parameter to the Gröbner procedure or the GroebnerBasis function.

Language

  • A bug in the parsing code for extended types in intrinsics has been fixed.

  • A bug which caused Magma to crash upon the restoration of many saved workspaces has been fixed.

Rings and Fields

  • SplittingField had problems dealing with trivial extensions. This has been fixed.

  • Functionality involving Norm, Trace and RationalFunction of function field elements over specified coefficient rings and fields has been restored.

  • A problem involving solution of linear equations over p-adic fields has been fixed.

  • A problem involving number fields defined by non-monic/non-integral polynomials has been fixed.

  • A problem involving norm equations with trivial right hand side has been fixed.
